Into The Deep It Fades...

Dust to Dust
The city has all but fallen to the sand
My kingdom gone though I remain
The last of the once great city
Evolution spared me, remade me
And now I remain, the last memory of all that was... Atlantis

Some speculate that when Atlantis fell into the sea, the people changed from human to mermaid and merman. The legend of the mermaid/man is a constant in all cultures.

Painted in Acrylics on water color paper with a 10/0 brush and a heck of a lot of blending.

Model: The ever beautiful was used for pose reference

You did a spectacular job on the tail for using acrylics! It looks quite realistic :) The blending of the blues is wonderful as well, I wish you'd continued it into the rest of the background as well. If you'd continued the blue theme and darkened it up into the shadows a bit, I'm sure she'd still stand out. The ruins feel unfinished when the rest is so lovely and detailed.

A zillion kudos to you for somehow doing this beautiful piece with acrylics. That media despises me and turns out looking like three year old finger paint when I try it XD I enjoyed the poem as well ^x^

awe thank you so much!! And I am thinking about playing with the background more. I was just on a tight schedule at the time. I had to get that done and another piece i'm still working on here.
You might want to try a retarding agent for the acrylic paint. I work on watercolor paper but only with the acrylics and I mix them with a medium additive that slows the drying time. Thats how I'm able to get the blends to work the way they do.. though sometimes, its still a pain in the rump...
Have an awesome day!!

If only I had known that in art class, I might have gotten better grades on my acrylic finals... ^x^ Thanks for the tip!

woots... dances....
I have been staring at the pics of you in the white dress where you have the blindfold on... i keep getting images of Blind Justice in my head....but you know me I never do anything " normal " so i'll have to come up with an image of Justice where its ummmnot like the statue LOL
by the way, the blue decor on the chest of the mermaid and the band on the arm, look a hell of a lot better in person, its all curvy and intricate .... oh well.. back to arthur on the death tomb thingy
